Hannibal

From Phantom of the Opera

Hannibal is the faux musical performed at the beginning of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, The Phantom of the Opera. Not much is know about the actual plot except that it tells of the return of troops from fighting against Roman soldiers. During the rehearsal for Hannibal, a piece of scenery falls on Carlotta Giudicelli, the leading soprano at the Opera Populaire, and she refuses to sing the song Think of Me. The managers of the Opera, Andre and Firmin, have Christine Daae sing it. She is chosen as the leading soprano for the evening, and the play is considered a triumph.
